Bruce Torrence began his Hollywood Image collection in 1972 with about thirty photographs. During the following forty years, Bruce amassed thousands of photographs, along with hundreds of books, periodicals, brochures, pamphlets and memorabilia of Hollywood. In 1979, Bruce's book, Hollywood: The First 100 Years, was published. This 286-page coffee table book was the first to chronicle the history of the world's most famous community. Fully indexed, this masterpiece is richly illustrated with 325 historic photographs, many of which had never previously been published.


Today, this collection is the largest archive of Hollywood Images, with over 10,000 photos.  With the advent of the internet, Bruce established his website,, and today there are over 6000 images on the site. Individuals and companies, including Steven Spielberg, George Lukas, Disney, Gene Autry Museum, Paramount Studios, and the National WWII Museum have been great clients.
