Hollywood Restaurant Photos

Hollywood photograhs.com has the best and largest collection of photos of great restaurants and nightclubs. Beginning in the 1920’s, some of the most popular and famous eateries were located in Hollywood. Armstrong- Carlton was one of the earliest and popular restaurants on Hollywood Blvd. Others included Mike Lyman, Gotham and Musso and Frank Grill and Tom Breneman’s Restaurant (RN-015-3). M

Most of the most famous restaurants in Hollywood were on the Sunset Blvd, also know as the Sunset Strip.

Ciro’s

William “Billy” Wilkerson opened the Ciro’s nightclub on the Sunset Strip. Photo number RN-036-20 shows Ronald Reagan seating his wife, Jane Wyman at the table at Ciro’s nightspot.  Other Ciro’s photographs show Donald O’Connor, Dennis O’Keefe, Clark Gable and Carol Lombard dining and celebrating at Ciro’s Nightclub.

Café Trocadero

One of the first nightclubs on the Sunset Strip was the Café Trocadero.  Also started by William Wilkerson, the club was originally known as La Boheme.  After La Boheme went out of business, Wilkerson took over the building and opened the Café Trocadero.  A photo of Jean Harlow (RN-151-18) is one of the rarest photos of the Café Trocadero images.  Other photos of celebrities at the “Troc” include those of Robert Cummings and Marsha Hunt (RN-151-5)

Mocambo

The third famous and popular nightclub on the Sunset Strip was the Mocambo.  Founded by Charlie Morrison, the nightspot competed with the other restaurants on the Sunset Strip and in Hollywood.  However, countless movie stars and community leaders frequented the nightspot on a nightly basis. The hollywoodphotographs.com website has both exterior and interior images. Many of the photos are of celebrities who dined there frequently. Photo number RN-103-15 shows Johnny Grant, Jack Benny and Danny Kaye sitting at a table having a discussion.  Other photos show Jane Russell, Errol Flynn, Sonia Henie, Victor Mature and Rita Hayworth having a great time dining and dancing at Mocambo.

The hollywoodphotographs.com is the largest website of vintage photos of Hollywood. All the images are available for purchase.
