Largest Hollywood Photos Collection

The largest collection of vintage Hollywood photos is on the hollywoodphotographs.com website. There are over 12,000 rare photos of Hollywood, including such subjects as Hollywood Theaters, Hollywood streets, Hollywood restaurants, Hollywood studios and Hollywood hotels.

First Hollywood Hotel

The first Hollywood hotel was the Sackett Hotel, located at Hollywood Boulevard and Cahuenga Avenue.  The hotel was, also, the location of Hollywood’s first post office.  It, also, had a popular confectionary store.

A few years after the Sackett Hotel was built, the Hollywood Hotel was built. Located on the northwest Hollywood Hotel Photo

of Hollywood Blvd. & Highland Avenue, this hotel became one of Hollywood’s most famous hotel. Many radio programs were broadcasted from the hotel. Rudolph Valentino and his first wife, Jean Acker, spent their honeymoon night at the hotel.  After fifty years of hosting thousands of visitors, the Hollywood Hotel was deemed unsafe for public habitation. It was demolished in 1956 to make way for the home office for First Federal Savings and Loan of Hollywood.

Hollywood Theater Photos

The first Hollywood theater was the Iris Theater, located on Hollywood Blvd. The second Hollywood theater was the Hollywood Theater, to the west of the Iris Theater. Beginning in the early 1920s, Hollywood saw the construction of five Palace type theaters. The first was Grauman’s Egyptian Theater, located on Hollywood Blvd. This theater was the first theater in the country to have a large forecourt.  Sid Grauman built his second theater, down the street from his Egyptian Theater. It was called the Chinese Theater. It was here that movie stars placed their hand and footprints in wet cement in the theater’s forecourt. Today, the Chinese Theater is Hollywood’s most famous tourist attraction. Other palace type theaters include the El Capitan Theater, Pantages Theater and the Warner Theater.  The hollywoodphotographs.com website is the largest collection of Hollywood Theater photos. Hollywood Restaurant Photos

For over one hundred years, Hollywood has had some of the most famous and glamorous restaurants and nightclubs in the world. The Brown Derby Restaurant chain consisted of four locations. The first was located on Wilshire Blvd. and was in the shape of a derby hat. The second, and most famous, was located on Vine Street, just south of Hollywood Blvd. The third restaurant location was in Beverly Hills, near Wilshire Blvd. The last location was in the Los Felix area of Hollywood.

Some the most famous Hollywood restaurants were located on Sunset Boulevard, also known as the Sunset Strip. Café Trocadero, Mocambo, Ciro’s and La Rues were some of the glamorous restaurants that lined Sunset Boulevard.
