Vintage Photos Added to website

Many Vintage Photos Added To Website

During the past several weeks, Bruce Torrence has add hundreds of vintage and historic Hollywood photos and images to his website,

This website is the largest collection of Hollywood photographs in the world.  There are more than 8,000 photos in the collection and they cover more than 90 subject categories.  These categories include such subjects as Restaurant/Nightclubs, Hollywood Canteen, Hollywood Blvd. and movie studios.

Twenty-five photo have been added to the Sunset Blvd. category and include images of many of the of the various stores and businesses that lined the street.  Restaurants like Cyrano’s, Dino’s and Tail of the Cock are just three of the eateries that were on Sunset Blvd. Over the past twenty year, the street has been the home for scores of large billboards, on both the north and south side of the street. Six photos of the famous Schwab’s Pharmacy were added to the website.

Several new vintage photos of the famous Hollywood Hotel have also been added to the website.  The hotel was built in 1902 and had two additions made to it in 1905 and 1908. For years, the hotel’s guest list included some of Hollywood’s most popular movie stars and civic leaders.  The hotel register boasted of such names as, William Farnum, Douglas Fairbanks, Pola Negri and Lon Cheney. Even Rudolph Valentino stayed at the hotel when he spent his honeymoon night with his new wife, Jean Acker.

Grauman’s Chinese Theater’s hand and footprint ceremony photos have also been added to the website. Those include images of Bette Davis, Clark Gable, Jimmy Stewart, Marilyn Monroe and Jane Russell are among some of the new photos.

The famous tradition was started in 1927, with Douglas Fairbanks and Mary Pickford placing their hand and footprints in the wet cement in the theater’s forecourt. Since then, hundreds of famous celebrities have been immortalized at the Chinese Theater.

Because the Hollywood sign is such an iconic symbol of Hollywood’s prominence in the entertainment world, many new photos have been added to the website.

New photographs have also been added to the Barnsdall Park, Cocoanut Grove, Pantages Theater categories – along with many other categories.

All of the photos in the website are available for sale. Also many of these photographs can be seen on the Hollywood Photographs Pinterest page, the Hollywood Photographs Facebook page and the Hollywood Canteen Facebook page.
