Larchmont Blvd.

Larchmont (alternately Larchmont Village) is the commercial heart of an area in mid-city Los Angeles, California. The area's geographical location within the Windsor Square neighborhood receives patronage from nearby Hancock Park, located to the west, and Hollywood adjacent to the north. Wilshire Blvd. is the southerly boundary of Hancock Park.  Although the neighborhood lies wholly within Windsor Square and serves as Windsor Square's "main street," it is commonly thought of as a distinct district. Larchmont Village is centered on Larchmont Boulevard between Beverly Boulevard and 3rd Street. A street car went up and down the street until the 1940s ." Keystone Cops" chases were filmed on Larchmont Blvd. "Abbot and Costello Meet The Three Stooges" was filmed on Larchmont Blvd along with FALSE ALARMS (1936) using both Third Street and Larchmont Blvd. Today many of the local homes are used to film commercials and movies. The hit movie "War Games" in 1983 with Matthew Broderick as David Lightman, utilized a home at Lucerne and Second Street as a major backdrop and set. Larchmont Village is a quaint and friendly shopping district in the center of a bustling city. It is located in one of the oldest and most historically significant neighborhoods in Los Angeles and is bordered by some of the most well preserved older homes in the city, ranging from 1920's California bungalows to grand old estates. It is convenient to nearby Hollywood, downtown Los Angeles, and Beverly Hills. Larchmont Village serves as a Main Street retail district to Hancock Park, Windsor Square and nearby Paramount Studios, and is home to the Larchmont Chronicle. Hollywood and Vine Streets are about one mile to the north. Melrose is parallel to Beverly Blvd and a few blocks north. The area is close to Wilshire Country Club, Los Angeles Tennis Club and Black Foxe Military Academy (a private preparatory school). The Metropolitan Theatres Corporation is owned and run by Bruce Corwin. The commercial strip along Larchmont Boulevard resembles a well-preserved downtown in a small Northeastern or Midwestern town. The movie theatre and its Saturday Morning cartoons are gone. The trendy street is home to Chevalier's Bookstore, Landis General Store, newly opened Keller Williams Realty, as well as Pinkberry and numerous upscale restaurants and shops. The commercial area is one block long and extends south from Beverly Blvd to First Street. There are a few businesses north of Beverly but the stores are to the south. From First to Third street it is residential with Larchmont ending at Third Street where the street cars made the turn east on Third Street. All day long and into the evening, local residents are found strolling the boulevard in search of a meal, shopping or just coffee with a friend. Larchmont Blvd. isnt far from the famous La Brea Tar Pits
