THE GENESIS OF HOLLYWOOD'S FAMOUS SANTA CLAUS LANE PARADE WAS IDEA OF THE HOLLYWOOD'S MERCHANTS ASSOC. THE FIRST SLEIGH AND REINDEER TO GO DOWN HOLLYWOOD BLVD. TOOK PLACE IN 1928 WHEN ACTRESS, JEANETTE LOFF JOINED SANTA CLAUS IN THE SLEIGH. THIS PUBLICITY PHOTO SHOWS ACTRESS, LILI DAMITA, POSING WITH COL. HARRY BAINE. SHE WAS SCHEDULED TO ACCOMPANY SANTA ON THE INAUGURAL RIDE BUT, FOR SOME REASON, JEANETTE LOFF TOOK HER PLACE.
