Early Laurel Canyon History and Photos

In the early days, Laurel Canyon was a secluded valley that supplied water to farms at the base of the canyon and some hillside grazing to sheep ranchers. One of the earliest farming estates was owned by Charles F. Harper, and it dominated the entrance to Laurel Canyon. Harper was a Civil War veteran who immigrated to California and made his fortune in the hardware business. Metro Board Authorizes Cost Sharing Agreement To Repair The Famous Hollywood Walk of Fame

The Metro Board of Directors recently approved the execution of the cost sharing agreement with the Hollywood Historic Trust to facilitate ongoing maintenance, repairs and replacement to the Hollywood Walk of Fame.  The Metro Board has agreed to fund $1.5-million towards the cost of repairs in the vicinity of the Hollywood/Highland and Vine Stations on the Metro Red Line.

In April 2008, the Metro Board of Directors instructed the Chief Executive Officer to take a leadership role in repairs to the terrazzo sidewalks that make up the Walk, and to submit a funding plan subject to Board approval.  The total cost of the repairs is approximately $4.1 million. ...
